Sushi ordering apps often feel cluttered, making it hard for users to customize orders or complete checkouts smoothly.
To entirely reinvent the sushi ordering experience by creating an intuitive app that makes it simple for the users to browse, customize and order their ideal sushi plates.
Conducting user research, creating wireframes and prototypes, and gathering feedback from peers and potential users to refine the app's interface and enhance the overall user experience.
The information collection for Zushi began through surveys combined with interviews, mainly focusing on what possible users enjoy and expect. Initially, I thought that speed during checkout, along with simple navigation, mattered the most. However, the responses revealed something different - a demand for visual appeal just as much as smooth performance. Customizing orders stood out strongly and showed a clear preference for personalization choices. Input gathered throughout the user research shifted early ideas toward more balanced solutions fitting varied requirements across the targeted users.

“Creativity knows no bounds in the kitchen;
customization is key.”
After a hectic day at her restaurant, Sophia Lee, an Executive Chef, looks forward to ordering sushi for dinner to explore new flavors. However, frustrated by the limited customization options online, she seeks alternatives to accommodate her family's preferences and dietary needs.
Sophia Lee is an Executive Chef who needs customizable food ordering options because she wants to meet her family’s preferences and dietary needs.
I conducted two rounds of usability studies. Insights from the initial study informed design iterations from wireframes to mockups. The second study utilized a high-fidelity prototype, revealing areas requiring refinement in the app's user experience.
Feedback shared by peers after reviewing the Zushi ordering experience.
“The case study provides a good starting point for showcasing the design process of the sushi ordering app. The user research section highlights the importance of understanding customer needs.”
“I liked your case study and the colors you chose for the app! Really great layout and spacing in your designs Great descriptions in your case study too. Good job!”
